Lay Ministry

In its simplest definition, lay ministry is the work of those who are not professional clergy. Beyond that, the definition is in the eyes of the beholder. At Sacred Heart, we see it as a responsibility to serve in the faith community and the intersection of faith and life.  It is the ministry of the people of God through the everyday lives they live.  No longer just clergy assistants or implementers of programs, at Sacred Heart lay members are sharing responsibility as partners in ministry within and beyond the congregation.

Participation is strongly encouraged and opportunities are vast: DeColores, Marriage Encounter, and Teens Encounter Christ. Other groups have been formed within the parish to promote the mission of the church. The Pro-Life Committee promotes the sanctity of life through Pro-Life Chain, Vigil Masses, baby bottle collection, and rosaries. The Landscaping, and Art & Environment meet on a regular basis for regular shrub and flower maintenance and interior decorating for the church.
