Grade 3
Welcome to the world of a Sacred Heart third grader. Flat Stanley project, Laura Ingels Wilder Day, and the Gloria Dump Party are definitely reading highlights. Visiting the nursing home, Ballard Nature Center, the Cross, and the Vandalia State Capitol building/ Fayette County Museum, and the Children's Museum of Illinois in Decatur are aluminum can recycle money bonuses.
Third graders delight in planning skits and taking important roles in the weekly children's Masses. Our curriculum includes mastering cursive handwriting, paragraphs, and multiplication. Students work hard to receive positive behavior (hole) punches on a "credit card." Accelerated Reading points are tallied for great raffle items, and class rewards chosen from our " Deck of Possibilities." Sitting in the U of I chair for a day is the favorite.
My schooling at Eastern Illinois University to be a teacher was just a springboard into the adventures and rewards of teaching. My creative juices need to flow every day as I expose these ready "sponges" to the latest technology found at Sacred Heart School.
