Ecce Homo by Caravaggio

Ecce Homo by Caravaggio

"Ecce Homo" translates to "Behold the Man," a phrase attributed to Pontius Pilate when he presented Jesus to the crowd before His crucifixion. The painting depicts Christ wearing a crown of thorns while Pilate stands before Him and another figure holds a red robe behind Him. Believed to be painted between 1605 and 1609, the painting is currently displayed in the Museo del Prado in Madrid, Spain. It is one of the few known works by Michelangelo Caravaggio, making it extraordinarily valuable.
