Florence Baptistery Triptych
This triptych (artwork made up of three panels) features reproductions of mosaic artwork found within the Florence Baptistery, also known as the Baptistery of Saint John, located in Florence, Italy. The central panel depicts the large figure of Christ the Judge, a prominent element within the Baptistery's dome mosaics. The side panels showcase detailed scenes from the complex mosaics, which include narratives of Christ, the patriarch Joseph, Genesis, and St. John the Baptist, alongside angelic hierarchies. These mosaics, dating from between 1270 and 1300, are a significant artistic and historical feature of the Baptistery, with contributions from artists like Coppo di Marcovaldo and Cimabue. The Florence Baptistery is a historically important religious building, dedicated to the city's patron saint, John the Baptist, and stands opposite the Florence Cathedral and Campanile di Giotto.
